You may be able to add an ole' graphics card (even the 5000 series cards play bf2), you can get one for a mere $20. The problem is that sometimes DELL have mainboards without the AGP/PCI-E slots in them. . . .

VHS --> DVD

Does the MainBoard have Firewire? MOST video digital cameras can process the analogue signal into digital format. . . .RCA (Yellow, Red and White plugs) from the VHS player into the Video Camera, FireWire from the Camera into your PC. Then use Windows Movie Maker or Adobe Premier Pro & Encore CS4 to make the DVD Video.

Sry bro. . .x800 is an AGP slot, you have the faster PCI-e slot in your MainBoard.

As for breaking your PC. . . .you SHOULD be okay, BUT if your concerned and you're going to buy a new card, just get the supplier to plug it in! The Power Supply is something you'll have to consider it you're buying a new higher end card.

Also, if this is a recent purchase, I'd go the FREE upgrade with Windows 7. . .

there are programs available that come with cords to convert with... one such program is from roxio. i've seen it in almost every store that sells computer software (Best Buy, Wal Mart, Target, Staples, Etc.) i hear its pretty good, but i have not used it personally (because i dont have that many VHS and my funds are somewhat restricted...)
cost is around $50.

This feedback may or may not help.

When I started working in Santa Clara, I started using this Dell Studio 540 at home and tried installing Windows 7 to continue playing BF2 away from home. I tried everything to get it to work but nothing worked.

So I reinstalled XP and have been playing ever since.

So, you might try the XP route but if you're going to use it for things other than BF2, then having XP on there might be a downer for everything else.
